Truck dispatch in Arizonabuilt for owner-operators.

Arizona is two freight stories. From November to March, Yuma + Nogales produce Arizona is the country's winter reefer monster — 1,000 reefer trucks per night moving lettuce + leafy greens nationwide. The rest of the year, Phoenix DC outbound + the growing TSMC semiconductor cluster carry the volume. AZ-based drivers who position seasonally maximize gross.

Where freight moves in Arizona.

Each city is its own freight micro-market. We dispatch in all of them and route you toward whichever one fits your equipment and home base best.

Phoenix

Sky Harbor air cargo + Loop 303 industrial cluster. TSMC semiconductor mega-fab build + Intel cluster nearby. Amazon + Walmart + major retailers have Phoenix DCs. Outbound to Dallas + LA + Pacific NW is steady year-round. Summer heat creates equipment stress.

Yuma

90% of US winter lettuce comes from Yuma fields. Nov–Mar, ~1,000 reefer trucks per night move out of Yuma cooling/cross-dock cluster. Salinas-style premium rates apply to East Coast destinations during peak winter.

Nogales

Mariposa land port — ~120,000 trucks/year and $2.5B+ in produce trade with Mexico. Sinaloa/Sonora tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, squash come north through Nogales Nov–May. Reefer capacity tightens severely Dec–Feb.

Tucson

Distribution + manufacturing + I-10 corridor to TX + CA. Steady DC outbound + cross-border drayage south to Nogales. Lower volume than Phoenix but less competition.

Flagstaff / Northern AZ

I-40 corridor + Grand Canyon tourism + lumber. Smaller volume but consistent demand for OTR coming through.

// Yuma winter + the Nogales squeeze

Why winter Arizona is the highest-paying reefer market most drivers ignore.

Yuma is a winter reefer monster. Crops harvested in Yuma fields in the morning hit Phoenix by afternoon and the East Coast in 3–4 days. From November through March, ~1,000 reefer trucks per night move out of Yuma. Premium rates apply to East Coast destinations — comparable to Salinas in CA but with shorter dispatch lead times. We dispatch Arizona-based reefer drivers heavily into Yuma during winter months.

The Nogales squeeze. December through February, Nogales produce volumes peak as Mexican winter crops cross the border. Reefer capacity gets tight — we pre-position drivers who want this work in mid-November. Drivers we send through Nogales in peak season often run 2 loads/wk on premium northbound at $3.50+/mi.

Off-season (Apr–Oct) we shift Arizona-based drivers to Phoenix DC outbound + dry van to Dallas/LA, plus general intermountain runs. Summer Phoenix heat creates equipment stress (tires, reefer units) — we ask drivers to prep for it before peak summer.

// FAQ — Arizona

Common questions from AZ-based drivers.

How much can I gross on Yuma reefer in peak season?
Drivers we dispatch in Yuma peak run $14k–$18k weekly Dec–Feb. Two East Coast loads per week + reasonable backhaul = strong winter income.
Is Nogales drayage worth it?
Yes for drivers based in southern AZ during winter. Per-load drayage rates are reasonable + volume is high. Off-season, less attractive.
Phoenix summer heat — does that affect dispatch?
It affects equipment. Reefer units work harder, tires fail more, A/C compressors strain. We ask drivers to do a maintenance check before peak summer (Jun–Aug).
What about TSMC semiconductor freight?
TSMC mega-fab build is bringing premium specialized freight to Phoenix. Some flatbed + over-dim + cleanroom-grade reefer work is available. We can position drivers toward this when they qualify.
