RGN / Heavy Haul dispatch — built for owner-operators.

Heavy-haul is technical work — permits in 5 states for one load, escort coordination, height surveys, low-clearance routing. Our heavy-haul desk is staffed by dispatchers who came from the heavy side. We handle the paperwork (permits, route plans, oversize/overweight authorizations) and we know which brokers actually pay heavy-haul rates and which ones lowball it.

Why drivers run rgn / heavy haul with us

  • Permits in 5 states for one load? We file them. You drive. No permit clerk fees added — pass-through cost only, no markup.
  • Pilot car and escort coordination is integrated with the load offer. You get the contact info and call schedule before pickup, not in a panic at midnight.
  • Heavy-haul brokers are a small world — roughly 30 brokers move 80% of US permit freight. We're in that circle. They send us first calls on the freight that pays.

// Permit reality

What "permitted" actually means — and what we handle for you.

Single-trip permits are the bulk of heavy-haul work — typically $20–$200 per state depending on dimensions, valid for 5 days from issue. Some states (California, New York, Illinois) require their permit applied for via state-specific portals with their own quirks. We handle every state on your route. Permit costs are passed through to the shipper or built into the rate — no clerk fee, no markup.

Escort thresholds vary by state but the rules of thumb hold: over 12'0" wide needs a front escort, over 14'6" tall needs a height escort with a measuring rod, over 100' overall length needs a rear escort, and most states require police escort over 16' wide. We coordinate with our pilot-car partner network on every permitted load and book the escorts before you accept the offer.

Superload (the truly oversize — over the standard permit thresholds) requires a full state-by-state route survey, multiple-day window, and sometimes utility coordination for low wires or signal heads. These take 5–10 days from booking to wheels-rolling. We're worth our 10% on superload work alone — solo owner-operators who try to coordinate this themselves typically lose money on the booking-to-pickup window because they can't bill for that time.

"I switched to TruckersTool Dispatch last spring. Same lanes, my weekly gross went from $7,400 to $9,100. The difference paid my truck note in two months — even after the higher dispatch cut, the rate-after-cut math wasn't close."

// FAQ — RGN / Heavy Haul

Common questions from rgn / heavy haul drivers.

If we missed yours, call dispatch — we'll talk straight.

Do you handle multi-state permits?
Yes. We coordinate permits in every state on the route, including state-specific superload paperwork. Permit costs are passed through; no markup.
What about pilot cars / escorts?
We coordinate pilot car services through our trusted partners. Costs go through to the shipper or are negotiated into the rate.
How much should I expect to gross on RGN?
Heavy-haul drivers with us average $11k–$16k per week, depending on permit complexity and lane. Permit-heavy weeks pay more but mean more downtime — we balance the schedule.
